We all have a story about who we think we are. Often we are painting a picture based on who we want to be so that we continue to strive to be the best version of ourselves.
I get that …
It’s natural to want to succeed and raise the bar.
My question to you is ~ Are there any stories that pop up from your internal story boxes that aren’t the most high on your list of stories about you?
Gary Craig, founder of EFT ( Emotional Freedom Techniques ) calls these stories ‘the writings on your walls.’
My colleague Laura Alden Kamm calls this your ‘Inner Graffiti.’ I love this expression because it brings up some very colourful pictures and messages.
One of the quickest ways to wash down those inner walls, is to actually read the writing and open up the story that goes with it.
If you have some un-expressed inner emotional graffiti going on in the shadows, your ‘inner graffiti’ will tell it’s story eventually … and it won’t ask for your permission.
It will tell it’s story through your Health, your Money $tory, your Relationships, Career AND through your ability to be Intimate & Loving with yourself.
Where ever you avoid the pain of the story, you are ‘footing the bill’ to mortgage that hidden identity that resides under the story. What’s worse is, the longer you pay for it’s rent and keep it hidden, the more it’s going to cost you in the end!
It’s like a secret gambling addiction and only you know how expensive it is. It will feed self hatred and loathing all the while you are trying to get ahead.
Here’s what I love about how I use EFT.
I free fall like I am jumping out of a plane with a secure parachute. It’s always a safe landing because I am speaking the truth of the story that I am witnessing in front of me.
I‘m not worried about saying the statement right, because I am just stating the facts of the story. I’m not following some rote script.
When you do your own EFT in this way, your wounded disconnected parts are seen & heard. The truth of ‘that story’ that you made up about yourself, ( because of what happened to you ) is only part of the truth …
Don’t believe the story and BECOME the traumatized disconnected part … stay in un-emotional truth as the wise adult that now sees and hears your story.
The Truth Will Set You Free ~ and that old story will slide off your inner walls.
Ok, until next time.
I am at your service, if you need a hand to wash off those walls of yours.
with love & kindness as always
~Dana
